Still Undertall (Pining for the "good" Laptop)
Monday, August 08, 2016
On 7/31 as I was just about to close the lid on my Toshiba laptop, one of the residents living in the wooded area behind our house (and in another township, dag nabbit) decided in their Infinite juvenile wisdom to explode a particularly loud firework (M80 I think). Our Irish Red and White setter, not in the least bit gun-shy, but loathing fireworks noises, instantly leaped onto my lap and on top of my laptop. Suffice it to say I was shocked and horrified to have 50 pounds of terrified setter sprawled across my lap. End result: quivering pet, broken hinges, cracked laptop screen and really annoyed ME. (And no, I did not blame our dog...but those neighbors...yeah I'm totally unforgiving as they have a bad habit of setting off M80s after 11pm.)
Come to find out that new laptop screens are easy to come by, Toshiba hinges, not so much. To quote a song lyric: "Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got 'til it's gone?" And my Laptop is only 8 months old (sigh).
