Hold the Popcorn

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

So we all know that to lose a significant amount of weight we have to make a series of small changes that give us a result which we desire. For instance. Going to the movies.
Why is it when we go to the movies we want to eat? i have to admit my go to foods at the movies are twizzlers and raisenettes. Neither of them are terrific. Twizzlers have a dull flavor and I can eat them like it is nobodies business. Then the raisenettes. Just love them.
So watching the movie is not enhanced by eating these treats. It is just what I had learned to do over the years. I learned a trick. Some nights I am so tired. Going to a movie at night can be difficult to stay awake during. I now buy a coffee to bring in. Our local theater lets us do that. So I buy a coffee and skip the snack bar altogether. It works for me and I save hundreds of calories by drinking this coffee.
My raisenettes have 380 calories. The twizzlers have 600 calories. 980 calories.
My medium coffee with cream has 120 calories. I saved 860 calories by drinking the coffee vs my regular movie snacks. And I gained a whole lot of pride for making a good decision.
Just one little change and strategy that works for me. What tricks work for you?

Ugh! I have not been to a Movie Theatre in years. The smell of Popcorn is hard to resist. But at home, I bought this bowl at Walmart with a lid for like $6.00. You put 1/4 c of kernels in it & boom. Air Popped Popcorn. It is a Treat in 3 minutes for me.

Funny - I just found a treat size Red Twizzler pack in hubby's pant pocket when tossing into the washing machine. That could have been bad! Threw in his lunch bag. Problem solved - Out of Sight, out of mind for me

Isn't it fun to catch all those Pavlovian reactions we developed over the years? Another fave of mine "breakfast food" - who do we eat some things at one time of day but not others?

You are a smart lady to have figured how to avoid your snack attack.
