It's Weigh Day!
Sunday, August 21, 2016
Well, my second week is in the books and although the last two days were an extreme challenge for me, I lost another 2.9 pounds! As much as I wish my journey to losing 100 pounds was quick and easy, I think I'm settling into my new healthy lifestyle quite nicely. I'm trying very hard not to focus on the scale (some days are easier than others) and am trying to place my emphasis on non-scale victories. For example, here are a few non-scale victories for me in the past week:
1.) I hit 10,000 steps all 7 days!
2.) I tracked every bit of food and water.
3.) I logged into Sparkpeople everyday and engaged and educated/helped myself with articles, support, and motivation.
4.) I didn't binge and stayed within my calorie goal everyday.
5.) During my two times of extreme cravings this weekend, I chose air-popped popcorn (no butter) and a skinny cow candy crisp (and stayed within my calorie allotment!).
I think it's important to consider non-scale victories because I know there will inevitably be weeks where I don't have a loss or the scale might even show a small **gasp** gain. I need to be mentally prepared for this and don't want it to derail my success and healthy habits. I am noticing I have more energy, I am noticing that I wake up with a desire to hit my steps goal rather than immediately craving junk food. I can already feel my heart and lungs getting stronger, as I'm not wheezing on a walk from the parking lot to a store. I'm also eating more fruits and veggies, All of this is something to be proud of!
What are some of your non-scale victories?? Here's to another successful week everyone! Cheers!
