LIFE

Wednesday, September 07, 2016

My life is full of many stressful situations like many of you have talked about. If I look at my whole at one time (everything that is going on now), it is overwhelming, more than I can deal with. I try to deal with one problem at a time and think about what I can do to make the situation better, now. I may not be able to change the situation or get out of the situation but if I can do one thing, anything, to improve the situation or or make someone else feel better, I feel better about myself. A smile or just listening does wonders.

I've found it helpful to take one minute, two minutes, or five minutes if I am lucky, to escape the situation mentally, I think of a beautiful flower, a waterfall, a rainbow or a butterfly. I hum my favorite song to myself. I think about taking a long, soothing, bubble bath in the evening, I think about being in my favorite place, a canoe at sundown, watching the animals come to the shore to drink, I think about all the many wonderful things that have happened to me in my life. I also think about my Mother who, over the course of years, died of kidney failure and of my Father who died of cancer. Those were hard times but I survived. I come back to reality refreshed and ready to carry on.

If Anne Frank could remain happy and cheerful in her situation (as shown in the writings she left behind), how can I complain?

If John McCain could endure years of torture as a Prisoner of War, remain positive and become the person he is today, how can I complain?

I hope this helps you. Make this a great day !!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
