Changing the track in my head

I keep hearing ... be kinder to yourself, don't let yourself get down, and is it really that bad?
HOW do I stop that track that is playing in my head this week?
HOW do I change the tune?
I started a gratitude journal.
I acknowledged my gain and created a SMART goal for the week dealing with it.
and now, I'm going for a walk to help clear my head.
