Well, this has been an up and down week~UP with the AWARDS from the local state fair~
2 FIRST Place ~
1 for my white impatiens that I landscaped my front yard with in the summer {photos in my gallery!}.
1 for my watermelon {smallest in show!}
1 for my Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal Cookies
1 for my Pole Beans
for my Christmas Ornament~ I made an ornament out of a REAL EGG. {A photo of a past egg ornament is on my page}.
Also ~my WEIGHT is UP and my mood is DOWN~you cannot lose weight ,baking and eating the cookies, early Halloween candy ,and less exercise than you did in the summer or less exercise at all!
What a surprise to realize as the new school year started and we started Homeschooling again, that I really DO put myself LAST after my child's and hubby's needs. I really do not make it a priority to get my exercise done til late and then I do not want to do it!
I do not think I would have really noticed this had I not done so well in the Summer Challenge.
It is EASY to do exercise and make time for yourself when there is plenty of FREE ME time . But the REAL challenge comes when you are back to your schedule and you realize~HEY I need to emoticon emoticon emoticon putting MYSELF on the back burner and MY EXERCISE and eating RIGHT~making BETTER FOOD CHOICES!! emoticon
So, this challenge will find me evaluating WHERE to REDO my EXERCISE SCHEDULE and start a NEW DAY with BETTER FOOD CHOICES!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
I can BE POSITIVE and look at my ACCOMPLISHMENT of 15 pounds LOST ALREADY and KEPT OFF for 5 MONTHS! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
I can look at my WATER INTAKE ACCOMPLISHMENT of making 8 glasses of water the MINIMUM each day~ a NEW HABIT I acquired 2 Challenges ago!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
I think I just need to focus on one thing right now ~ emoticon !!!!
Thank you for reading ,and just being there as my SPark family of friends are so supportive and helpful!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

emoticon Hooray on your awards! That's so exciting.

Pick yourself up after your backwards slide, and start from start once again. We all have to do this once-in-awhile. You're human! I despise all the Halloween candy in the stores already too. I know that if I bring a bag home, even 3 weeks from now, they'll be gone, and I'm the biggest culprit. And, the funny part of it is, we usually don't have any kids!! Our neighbor's kids used to when they were smaller and now last year, they just went into town for their Halloween fun, which has everything for kids. It's a real nice thing that our local town does every year now. I do best when that stuff is kept out of the house. Low carb is so seriously important and that's what I'm trying to do, but with our neighbor bringing over apple pie and then a piece of the apple kuchen I made. In the old days, I'd be guzzling bags of candy and I'm not doing that anyway! More power to you, Girl!!

You are one of the most determined women I know. Just take a deep breath, and let it out slowly. Now remember that chasing those kids of yours is just as much exercise as running a mile! emoticon

Congratulations !! emoticon How exciting . I feel that you have not put yourself last as you enjoy creating and look what you have accomplished all HUGE NSV which are just as important as scale victories .
I used to juggle many plates as my parents caregiver , my husbands caregiver - I care for them and both homes . I wrote many blogs on putting myself first - even left spark- then my father passed away and everything in my life changed . What I complained about ( not that you're complaining) was now gone - my mom move out of state and then all of sudden I began to put weight back on ..
I realized that caring for parents was a workout and a gift . So now that is done , time to move on - nothing I can do about it.

Now , I incorporate my DH's needs , grandchildren , children into my life style change - walks for a 5k , leaning to cook new recipes , canning , etc...
You're First in their Life emoticon and in YOURS ! emoticon
    You're a WINNER

    Congratulations on those awards!!
You make an interesting point about doing so well in the Summer Challenge, when it was easy to find plenty of free time.
I bet with some thought and adjustment you can fit in time to meet your goals as well as help those around you with their needs... a challenge though!

Congrats on the fair awards! emoticon Sometimes there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day for all I want to do. I have struggled to make exercise a priority, too. The 5% challenge is helping me.

Never give up, never quit. No matter how many times I get off track, I get back on. We have computer rules in our family. Everyone has their own computer, but we still watch what's going on. During the weekm DD can only use her computer for school. She has unlimited access from after school Friday (or last day of the week) until 3pm Sunday (or day before school). So far, DD has been very good about not using the computer during the week, and she doesn't overdo it on the weekends. Luckily, she's an avid reader (took her two weeks to read the Harry Potter series), and she likes to watch home improvement shows with me, and sports with her dad. And she spends a lot of time outside with her dogs, weather permitting.
We try to get a routine and stick to it. For our sanity's sake.

I love the fact that when I take some of the kids swimming when I go (it's my main exercise), it counts toward Physical Education. That really helps when we are trying to balance education responsibilities and our own physical fitness goals.
Another thing that helps me in MY busy household of 11 people (this might not help YOU, but maybe some of your home ed readers) is this: On our computer, we have a family account and an adult account. My hubby put a time limit on the family side 10am to 10pm. This not only protects the kids from the temptation of getting online anytime they please (and seeing things they shouldn't) it also ensures that I can use the computer in the morning and late evening for Sparking without having to kick someone off the screen.

I wonder if anyone else has tips for us that help us put ourselves 'first' in the sense of having 'insurance' they our own fitness doesn't get put by the wayside. I would love to hear them.

Congratulations on all your accomplishments. I, too, struggle with making myself a priority as I take care of others' needs. Tracking on Spark has heloped a lot with this as I hold myself accountable to take care of my health. Best wishes to you!
