Loving the Spark Community

Tuesday, October 18, 2016

I never knew how much I enjoyed all of y'all's encouragement, until yesterday at my daughter's cross country meet. My husband and I were spread out on the course cheering our daughter on at various locations... however, we also cheer for all the girls from all towns, because it's a team sport but, it's a grueling sport/task to run 2 miles timed! I'm proud of every one of those kids, especially the slow ones in the back...they started and finished, hats off to YOU! A girl from a different town earnestly thanked me (winded and out of breath, but almost to the finish line) for cheering them on...she was in top 10, you guys...she was medaling easy. Her humble and grateful spirit is why she is a winner to me!! It was encouraging to say the least! I know that girl thanked me, but I thank her for boosting my faith and hope! God Bless!

This post makes me think you are an incredible role model for your daughter - she will be a good sport because you've modeled good sportsmanship. It's so sweet of the other girl to thank you. I know there's this stereotype against athletic people, but whether it's people here encouraging others to move more, try new sports, or at an actual sports meet, I've so much more often seen kind, encouraging behavior in the world of physical fitness. I'm glad we can all be a part of this community. emoticon
