Even old Men Do Stupid Things

Saturday, October 22, 2016

Early this morning my dad decided he could put the cover on his air conditioning unit in his apt. Luckily mom was watching him because he fell over when he couldn't lift if high enough. But mom who forgot they have buttons to push and help will come ran down the hall to look for someone to help him. His vitals were fine and he refused to go to the ER but the nurse called and reported it to me anyway. Great way to start the day. Just a "little" bit of stress.

I stayed home anyway today. This morning I tackled a stack of patterns I'd printed and got them all filed in the proper notebooks. Then I had lunch and went up to work on my quilt. It still isn't lining up perfectly but I'm not taking it apart again. If I trim it too many more times my blocks will be too small.

Then this afternoon I tackled some more stuff in the kitchen and even did another load of laundry. I still have lots to do because I had several blankets out in the living room when I was recovering from surgery and those haven't gotten cleaned yet. I also found some one of the cats has been sleeping on and will have to wash those too.

Since I finished my cabbage for lunch I didn't have much energy for fixing dinner. I'm afraid cereal and fruit was what I settled on. Not the best of meals.

Tomorrow I'm going to tackle cleaning out the frig again. I need to keep up with that. But I am finding that just keeping up after myself is a big job.

Oh yes here is the big slipper to cover the foot in the boot problem my handyman is having. It is at least very soft yarn.

Hope you handyman will appreciate the boot to cover the open end on the book he needs to wear for awhile, especially when the weather is cooling down this time of year up in the northern states. I like the idea that it is made with soft yarn, less weight to wear instead of heavy yarn.
Nice to hear you dad didn't get hurt trying to get the air conditioner out the the window. Hope he won't try that again. You mom forgot the buttons to call, more than likely do to getting excited over your dad having trouble trying to get the air conditioner out.

The boot is a genius idea - I know lots of folks here in "snow country" who could USE something like this after surgery!

I applaud you for all your efforts in what you do for your parents and others!
Especially during this time of recovery for yourself!

When I saw this pic of your "boot cover slipper", I just had to tell my dh your story!
He said you should patent this invention of yours; soooo talented, and a much needed accessory to those who must wear medical boots! (it hasn't been done already, I hope!)

I have seen from your pics how talented and skillful you are!
And always thinking of others! I hope your handyman appreciates your gift!
