My challenge today is to look back at the changes I've made and see how far I've come. I joined SparkPeople on 11-4-15, almost a year ago. In that time I have reached and maintained my goal weight and found a lot more energy and motivation. I have motivated some people, in my apartment complex for Seniors and the disabled, to come over and do SparkPeople exercise videos with me. Perhaps most important, I am happy with myself and with my life. Although retired, I am busy doing things all day and some evenings. I usually choose to do more active things rather than sit in front of the TV in the evening. I have learned that "ME TIME" is important and I make sure I have some "ME TIME" everyday.

I have learned to say "NO" and not feel guilty. If I don't take care of myself I can't help others. I have learned that every day is a precious gift and to use it wisely. I have joined Silver Sneakers. I have gotten my 10-year-old grandson hooked on jokes.I even look forward to exercise and Physical Therapy which help me lower my high blood pressure, lower my high cholesterol and lessen my depression.I feel good after a workout even though I walk with a walker and am somewhat limited. The more I do, the more I want to do. I am pre-diabetic and hopefully my new healthy life-style will keep me from becoming diabetic. I also sleep better and have been able to decrease come of the medications I take.

I have learned to manage my time. I am only one person and there are only 24 hours in a day. Sometimes family, friends and other people need to understand that. I have learned that everything I used to think was a crises is not a crises. What I don't get done today will be there tomorrow. I go to bed knowing I have done the best I can and I sleep well. Every morning I get up and thank God for another day.

What I think of myself has become more important than what others think of me. In short, life is a lot more fun now. My philosophy of life now is: " Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is your future. Today is your life. Live it!" I don't know who said that but I believe it. Make today and every day a GREAT DAY !!! emoticon LOVE LIFE !!! LIVE LIFE !!!

    I really enjoyed reading your blog. I have always been heavy and was diagnosed with arthritis is my early 20's. I was always active and have only begun to slow down more now because of pain. I have already had one shoulder replaced and now I was told I need to have a hip replaced. My other shoulder hurts every day, but even though I am also using a walker right now, I will not give up on my life. I do not take pain pills and I count myself as lucky as I do not have heart problems, diabetes, lung problems, but it is just these aching joints that are trying to disrupt my life. I was told by an arthritis doctor that if I ever quit moving, I will just be all frozen up, so I still golf and swim. I did give up bowling after getting my shoulder replaced and I no longer play tennis because of my back and leg pain, but I try not to sit too much, so you inspire me to keep on living my life because as you said, God still gives me breath every day and I keep trying to do what I enjoy and try to eat healthy even though I still am overweight, I still keep trying to eat healthy and keep moving each day. emoticon
