First Timer

I've never blogged before although I always enjoy reading blogs from others. Right now I'm struggling to maintain my weight loss because I'm having trouble focusing on what I know it takes to keep the weight off. My fitness program is fine, I just need to get the eating back under control. SparkPeople is a wonderful forum and I know I will get help here. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

    My only thing that I have noticed is that when my niece and nephew were here these past 2 months. They eat a lot of fruits and veggies. So I ate the same thing they did and found that I wasn't hungry to often. I didnt' crave any junk food either. Well chocolate a little bit! But I just took them out for ice cream instead of having it in the house where I would eat it all the time if I could.

    I also was at my goal weight before I came here. I've always been able to lose weight--and always regained it. This time I've kept it off 11 years now. Becoming more aware of the importance of activity, and finding activities you love, is one of the lessons learned here. I wear a pedometer 24/7, for me it's a great motivator. Gardening, hooping and yoga top my exercise list among other things I enjoy. Just like a healthy diet means limiting some foods and learning to like others. Fitness, for me meant learning to spend more time on activities I enjoy and limiting some sedentary ones; just not enough hours in the day! Fitting in aerobic activity throughout my day has been invaluable! I've always been able to lose weight but I've never kept it off without increasing my exercise. emoticon

    Great job on your #1 blog! Maintenance . . . takes . . . lots . . . of . . . work, and patience. So hang in there. You have lost the weight, so maintain that focus, maintain that self-confidence, because you CAN do this. You know you have OUR support. DEFINITELY!

    As 2BDYNAMIC said, I certainly would encourage tracking -- it helps with accountability, just like having a written budget does. It lets you know what areas you're doing well in and others you may need to "beef up".

    First of all ..... emoticon on your first blog! .......And I expect there will be more as you update us on how you are progressing! ..........See there .........I have confidence in you, and right off, I noticed in your picture you look very fit and trim ........So #1...You have the fitness down ............Many do not coming in ..... So the next is select foods you like and enjoy but are nutritious ......... and then tracking will help a lot as you can see where you are ......Kind of like keeping good records or a budget ........... Have fun and enjoy.
