Hi All

I guess it's time for a status. We had a great weekend. California got some very needed rain and when it was over the air the smelled sweeter and everything looked a lot cleaner. On Saturday, we walked with our walking group along Guadalupe River. We had our usual Saturday breakfast at our favorite restaurant. I ate wisely + and I walked home from there as I always do, it's about 3 miles +. I did some errands and then went to my middle grandson's soccer game then we all went to a Halloween fundraising event at my two older grandsons school. Unfortunately, one of the kid's classes was doing a bake sale so I felt compelled to buy a cookie and a mini pumpkin pie. I ate the cookie and split the pie with my husband. Big minus. I ran after my grandkids and got lots of steps +. Then we went to the San Jose Sharks Hockey game. We always park about a mile and half away and walk around the arena at the breaks so I had 22,000 steps at the end of the day Big plus. I ate well on Sunday big plus and managed to reach my goal of 12,000 steps plus again. Ate well on Monday and Tuesday and reached my step goal. I'm not done with today yet. I was pacing last night and I stubbed my pinky toe on a chair. I feel careless Big minus. It looked broken because it was sticking out at a weird angle but it feels much better this afternoon.

I am having some real issues with sleeping. I follow all of the rules, no caffeine after 12, keep a consistent bedtime, no screens in the bedroom that is kept at around 63 degrees. I take melatonin sometimes. I drink chamomile tea at night and I fall right to sleep but I wake up at about 2 or 3 or 4 and can't get back to sleep. It happens around 5 or 6 times a week and it's killing me. I'm not sure if this is + or -. If anyone can offer a new suggestion, I would be happy to try it.

With all those steps, you easily erased those "sweet calories." I've been having a sleep problem for the last few years. I fall asleep early, then wake about 3:30 am and can't get back to sleep. That's why I fall asleep so early. Oh well....

My poor hubs is practically an insomniac and he in turns ruins MY sleep. Are you doing too much electronic stuff right before bed? They say the light from electronic screens messes with your pineal gland. DH takes Extra Sleepy Time Tea and melatonin he has to take a higher dose than recommended because he's a big guy. They say not to be on it for too long because it loses it's effectiveness after your body gets used to it so give it a week or two break. He also likes this stuff called CALM which is all natural magnesium and calcium I think.

I spritz a little pure lavender essence on my pillow called Sleepy Time or you could try a lavender diffuser

Blessings to you...not getting enough sleep is SO frustrating!.

Seems like you got the hang of it!
I like reaching my daily steps goal. I walked in circle the other day because I was missig 300 steps to reach 10K! I've increased m goal to 12K.
    Keep sparking!

Good job keeping track of things.

I'm with Phebess regarding sleep.. I resist taking medicine and prefer natural solutions, but when all conventional means fail me, I have a prescription for gerneric xanax. I also cut the pills in half. It's just enough to take the edge off and get my body in a normal rhythm.

Or try meditation. There are different types, including some for relaxation/sleep.

YAY on all of that walking!

I had a period of time when I was waking up at about 2:30 in the morning, and was awake an hour or two before getting back to sleep. Yeah, it was horrible. I figured it was just part of menopause. Finally got some sleeping pills from my dr, and would take 1/3 to 1/2 of a pill and sleep through the night when I got totally exhausted. But not much else I could figure out to do.

Wow, you really seem to have covered your bases on the sleep routine. I think the journaling is a good idea that Tanya suggested.

Have you tried yoga for bedtime? I've seen some videos.

I hope the toe is ok. That hurts!

Way to go eating well and getting your steps!

Some suggest to keep a journal by the bed and you can write your thoughts down before going to bed. It is supposed to help clear the mind and keep you from waking up.
