Moving Forward

Saturday, November 05, 2016

Weeks have gone by without a lot of progress. Landed on fractured hip tripping over stump in middle of yard while moving lumber for our dog fence about six weeks ago. Fortunately I managed to get around and keep working with minimal exercise so that I did not gain any weight back though. Five weeks later, about a week ago I had began exercising like normal again; however I then slipped on a wet floor, landing on my broken right knee at McDonald's getting my son dinner; only to find that it had filled up with fluid so that I have had to have it syringed out. Then only three days later I tripped over my husbands extension cord in the kitchen fixing dinner, landing on my fractured left knee with the blood clot, so that now I am in braces again. At least this time they are removable at my own discretion. It's been almost a week now and still have managed to work both my shifts so far. I find it is really hard to walk though, so have had to let the exercises tame down off and on quite a bit; replacing main exercises with altered ones so as not to stress these unwanted fractures. Weighed myself finally to find that I am still at my final weight; so am pleased with that and raring to start in again accelerating my pace a bit more everyday, and compensating my diet a bit more to make more weight loss possible. Happy to say we were able to attend my graduation at a healthier looking size during this interim, and still have not had to resort to using a cane in the middle of all this chaos. I need to climb out of my rut, move beyond the pain and carry forward. With Sparks behind me I know that I can accomplish what I have begun, regardless of the obstructions I seem to keep encountering. Each bout of pain, every new and unwanted injury, just makes me realize how very vulnerable I am and how necessary it is for me to continue my venture to a healthier and more empowered lifestyle. I know that without all my recent strength training and muscular exercises that I probably would be back in a wheelchair. These setbacks are just reminders that I need to keep fit and be ready for whatever road blocks come my way. I am committed to Sparks because the are committed to me. I am now even more than ever, committed to moving forward!
