Think before eating

Monday, November 07, 2016

No always upsets people. I was asked to go out with family who are up in Scotland visiting just say no would you upset them.. but they were going out for high tea which over here is tea and toast with jam cream and butter - before a main meal with loads of tea and coffee then followed buy a tray of cakes!!! The cakes were meringues, sweet pancakes, chocolate squares, doughnuts with clotted cream and jam, scones and finally handmade melt in the mouth Scottish shortbread. Thinking ahead knowing we were going out and where we were going, I popped into the restaurant at lunchtime and looked at the evening menu. I spoke to a member of staff and I was upfront and told them that I was on a restrictive calorie diet and that I wanted to accompany my family but didn't want to deal with the server at the time discussing My dietary needs requirements. They were more than happy to help me choose something from the menu and tell them exactly how I wish it to be cooked..... and that way just to say I've pre-ordered when my order was taken. We went out the tea and toast arrived I just had tea and then I quite happily said I've pre-ordered. Then my wonderful steamed sea bass and steam vegetables with no butter or oil used. I even got a wee note at the end of the night telling me what they had used brocoli the Carrots, cauliflower and the Sea bass salt all weighed so that I could add it to my sparkpeople app. The lady I spoke to even said she would log on herself and have a look..another convert! This only goes to prove sometimes thinking before eating and asking for help people not only helps you.... people are more than happy to accommodate and actually it really made them feel good that they had helped me and I might have helped Fiona by spreading the Spark x
