Our Thoughts Are Powerful

Tuesday, November 08, 2016

The subject about the power of our thoughts has been coming up for me a lot lately. Whenever something keeps appearing in front of me, I pay attention. This must be a lesson that I need to learn! I read the power of our thoughts in a Bible study, a book I had reserved on Outlook Media from my local library finally became available for checkout "Battlefield of the Mind" by Joyce Meyer, www.amazon.com/dp/B00166

and a quote by the late Dr. Wayne Dyer popped up.

β€œChange the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” – Wayne Dyer

This is so true...what we think about affects our actions and our behavior and this ultimately affects who we are and our experience and perceptions about our life. We have the choice to control what our mind thinks. We can let our minds be filled with worry, anxiety, and negative thoughts....or we can take those thoughts captive and shift our thinking to something positive.

"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Philippians 4:8 (The New Living Translation)

I have a choice....I can obsess about things like what number will be on the scale at my next weigh in, the outcome of the election, and all the things that I have no control over. OR I can choose to focus on things like the non-scale victories such as better sleep, more energy, a better mood, and how much better I feel. I can go listen to uplifting worship music or go take a walk instead of turning on the election news. I can focus on all my blessings and the good things in my life rather than focusing on things that I have no control over.

Today I choose good thoughts....thoughts that help me stay motivated with my health goals, thoughts that are life-giving, uplifting, and positive. I lay down the burden of worrying about things that I can't change and concentrate on the things that I can change.

I'm heading outside to go for a walk while I listen to uplifting music and thank the Lord for all the blessings in my life!

You have that choice too! What will you choose to think about today?

Great blog, Bonnie, and so true! I tell my daughter all of the time to guard her thought and her habits will follow. This has been essential to my own health/weight loss journey. How I choose to view/respond is the difference between being stuck, and making progress.

I loved this: "Whenever something keeps appearing in front of me, I pay attention. This must be a lesson that I need to learn!"

    Thanks for the reminder!
