Mel's Perspective

Wednesday, November 16, 2016

Thanks for all the comments on my last post - which I realize now, was very focused on knitting - which to be honest does take up a lot of my free time - due to the fact that its distracting, productive, relaxing and already paid for. I don't go shopping much at all, since I don't have money to waste on more clothes, etc. And, since I'm knitting sweaters I don't need to buy any - aside from the fact that the stuff that is created by me, is much better than I could afford right now. And that's just based on the material cost, not including the value of my time that goes into making them.

I'm chilling now after a productive morning doing job applications on the net - and then lunch. I'll work out in a bit, after my lunch digests a bit. I've got some dvr'd shows to catch up on which makes the running time go faster - today it's either Timeless or This is Us, two new faves this season. Since there happens to be some good stuff on TV, I'm watching more On Demand and dvring more.

Two food related items I wanted to note - when I air-fried the garlic head I used no oil - and I realized that I can mash u some of it, add herbs to it and "schmear" it under chicken skin when I roast either a whole chicken or chicken breasts on the bone. The flavor will melt right into the meat. I can also "schmear" it right onto a grilled pork chop or steak for additional flavor. Both of these ideas will have to wait until next week as all my food prep for this week is done. Tonight I'l do up some with the sautéed spinach that's on the menu.

That's it for now - I'm going to knit for a bit and then do some running.

Have a great day -and remember, since quitting is not an option, what's your next move?

All the ways you mention for using the air-fried garlic sound scrumptious! I, too, wonder if the garlic smell seeped out of the foil into the apartment? Good to know if having company over.

I no longer subscribe to cable TV, and I miss the ability to watch On Demand or rewind/replay as I watch. DH and I are currently watching old seasons of Burn Notice on Netflix. Just 2 more seasons; then, we'll something else with a lot of seasons to get into.

I often think of you and your job search. I hope something challenging with a more than nice salary comes your way soon.

I love garlic with just about anything--one question; Did the smell of air frying garlic permeate your apt for long?

I love Timeless, don't know the other show, but will investigate it. Your idea for the garlic sounds great! Quitting is certainly NOT an option! :)

I'm going to be trying the garlic once I get my air fryer (I think the kids are planning that for Christmas!). I'm glad you're staying busy...hope something happens soon for you in the job market! It's hard to believe things are that tough in such a big city!
