Two peas in a Thanksgiving pod
Thursday, November 24, 2016
Just sitting here struggling to stay awake until a reasonable bedtime. I imagine there are a lot of folks feeling the same way this evening as the Thanksgiving holiday winds down here in America.
Spent time planning and cleaning, decorating and baking then family arrived, they ate, we talked, it got loud. We ranged in age from 11 months to 94 years. Almost everyone was here. The food was delicious and abundant as are our many blessings. Nearly all the leftovers went out the door again.
The baby was the star attraction. We ooo'd and ahhh'd at everything she did. She is delightful. Of course she had a grand time and ate turkey and green beans and mashed potatoes but the bit of cranberry bread was rejected. She discovered how "Twinkle, twinkle little star" sounds - sitting at the piano on my lap. She and the dogs couldn't have gotten along better. She and Riley touched noses and he laid down next to her high chair just as he laid next to her crib at nap time back when we were her nannies. She followed Brody around and around and then vice versa.
Now the house is quiet. Most of the dishes are done. The cover is back on the couch and the puppy is sitting with Riley and I - a first. A quiet day planned for tomorrow to recuperate and to take longer walks than today. Meanwhile, this picture of "the boys" says it all...
