Yesterday was THE worst and then ...

Tuesday, December 13, 2016

Many of you may know I am deaf. I hear with a cochlear implant (internal device) with an external over the ear processor. Yesterday I dragged myself to the mall to catch the holiday spirit (we do not celebrate the holidays ourselves). I was having a great time having unplugged for awhile to avoid hearing noise. Then I needed a conversation - and went to plug back in and found I had lost my processor in one of the stores I'd visited. Time to retrace my footsteps ... now totally deaf. Stores were busy but thankfully with all but one I got good customer service. I left confident that if my processor turned up I would be contacted. Sigh of relief. Got home however to find out that we had no internet - I cannot hear on a regular phone so I have one that uses voice recognition software and it, as well as other cable related features were out - even if someone had found my processor they couldn't reach me! Packed up the laptop and headed to local coffee shop with wi-fi. They were out too. I asked about the library - out too. So I did the only thing I could do - I headed back to the mall and retraced my footsteps yet again - getting more discouraged store by store. And then - a miracle happened, at least MY miracle. In the last store the manager saw me and told me she'd been trying to call. My processor had been found by a customer and turned in. Where was it - in a section with plaster statues of - guardian angels. While spiritual I do not believe in angels, and yet here it was I can't call it anything but ... a Christmas miracle.

Oh I am so glad you got your processor back! The person who turned it in is such a good person to do that!!!
