State of the Union 12/22/2016

Thursday, December 22, 2016

OK, the union is more like getting my mind and body on the same path.

My weigh in this week was down- I am happy about that! I joined the BLC 32 15 week challenge and am proud to say I lost 20#'s. I am celebrating that because I have never experienced that much in such a short amount of time. This makes the total lost since I joined Sparks at 26# so far. If I hadn't lost the same lbs twice I would be a lot further ahead! emoticon So I rewarded myself with a Fitbit Flex, which is swim proof. I am excited about that- some new techie thing to learn how to operate!

My eating plan is working for me. Keeping my calories between 1300 and 1500 calories, with 50% veggies, 25% protein and 25% starch. My blood sugars are now ranging in the 120's. Just one day at a time. The big lesson learned is adding pizza to my kryptonite. Yikes!

Did I do it perfectly, of course not! The weekend challenges were hit and miss, but the important thing is that I did participate, even if imperfectly.

Some of my physical challenges were a factor in the challenges. No excuses, I found alternate exercises I could do. The post surgery results are in, and I am almost normal- well normal for me emoticon

My Ringo boy needs at least 4 walks a day, the mid morning walk is a long one and the mid afternoon walk is even longer. I swear his is going to sprain his nose with all that sniffing!!

Now that he has mastered the crate, I am going to start taking him to the dog park. I am rather ambivalent about that, because the dog parks can be breeding grounds for all sorts of germs, but he needs to run off leash, and catch balls, etc. We will try one this week, and see how it goes. He is such a sweet boy, eager to please and very loving!

The weather here is wet and chilly- I guess winter comes even to sunny areas like Tucson! I feel it in every joint and muscle. Fibromyalgia is my human barometer. Gentle exercise, non impact, does help.

I found a hair dresser, Santiago. Don't let the name food you, he is Irish- LOL We are working on a two phase plan. Last week he even out my hair color, and next week he is doing a body wave and a cut. I have been so disappointed in my pictures. My hair if fine and flat. Santiago did his magic trying to get some lift to my hair and finally agreed with my- my hair is flat. LOL. Will post pictures next week after he does his magic.

I am going to visit a make up artist and learn the finer points of dealing with the pouches under my eyes. They are the one thing that really bug me, but I am not ready to have any more surgeries. It is more than a vanity thing. It truly affects how I feel about myself. If I can learn the slight of hand and enhance my features that is a good thing.

The rest of this month, I am fine tuning my routines. Nothing to exciting. Just making the bed, keeping the kitchen tidy, dusting and blessing my home. Mr Budget says I need to wait a bit before acquiring living room lamps and a console table for the "entry". It really was a choice between feathering my nest or adopting Ringo. LOL A new routine is daily vacuuming- Ringo does seem to be the reason for that- I gladly do it.

I am going to Mesa next week to see my niece and her baby girl who will be one in January. Aliyah is walking and at last report had de-decorated the bottom of the Christmas tree. I am so jazzed about seeing them, it has been a couple of months.

Tis the season to set the intentions for 2017. I am doing a vision board for that- it is still in its infancy, but includes paying off my Dr. bills, setting aside money for getting a small pull trailer, so I can travel a bit, feathering my nest, losing more weight, establishing my website and gathering a revenue stream, taking more classes, and writing. I am sure as I ponder the year, more things will come to mind. I want to be strong physically, emotionally and spiritually. And I am going to participate in activities that keep me engaged in those goals.

Merry Christmas to all and enjoy the holidays!

Oh...and for the eye baggies...try putting a tea bag on each eye for about 15 minutes when you first get up. You can camouflage with a light highlighter right in the deepest or puffest crease of the problem. The lightener reflects light off of your problem area and bounces it outward thereby taking the attention away from the problem. You can also put a little highlighter right under the arch of your eyebrow and use a brownish eyeshadow on the eyelid with LOTS of mascara to open up your eyes. Eye bags are usually an indication of kidney problems so look into some detox to cleanse out those hard working kidneys...do you drink TONS of water...that helps too.

Also, put the lightest little upward line of highlighter on your cheekbone on the highest point towards your ear right above your blush...pulls the attention to your cheekbones rather than the pouchy area. emoticon

These are good tips...remember I was a Revlon rep wayyyyy back in the day and at that point in my life I wouldn't even go to the GROCERY store without the false eyelashes and full regalia...my how THOSE days have changed!

Dear Sunny you are such a GIRL after me own heart! I just love to hear all about your bootstrapper adventures and how pleased I am at how far you have come! You are one wise and wonderful friend of mine! I SO wish you were closer to me my friend you would HAVE your lamps and your console table in an instant!

I ALWAYS do the best I can for my dear friends and you certainly fit in that category. I'm thinking long and hard about starting my own blog...I just NEED to do something beyond the consignment gallery. This year has been a HUGE disappointment what with all of the competition...there are 15 or MORE consignment shops that have sprung up near us in a 20-mile radius. I don't mind competition...but this statistic is alarming! There is only so much inventory to pull from and to get items in has become a full-time occupation now with all of the competition. We are also WAYYY down on sales and our rent went up in October.

Okay...off my 'pity pot' as our dear Fredie would say! emoticon

Is your blog to the point that we can take a peep at it...you know I'm FULL of good ideas to help you tweak it and I'd want the same input from you if I venture into 'blog world'.

I pulled out pictures from magazines each way up and back to N. Carolina. 12 hours of driving each way allows PLENTY of pictures...now I just have to assemble them.

2017 is going to be a good year for us Sunny...I just KNOW it! emoticon

So, awesome! You are doing great! Love all the progress you are making...in all areas! You go, girl! Let me know if you would like to be Fitbit friends...send me an e-mail with your personal e-mail address so I can invite you as a friend. I think you'll like it. I enjoy mine because it's constant, mindless tracking and the numbers are always there for me to look at and use to try to figure out what is working. Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon

Sunny, your life sounds wonderfully peaceful. And Ringo sounds like a fabulous doggie. I just love beagles! And they are active, they do love walks. I remember my neighbor having one, named Pride. And I use to go over there and take her for walks...she would get so excited when she would see me walk into her home. Dog parks, if your dog likes them and if the dogs seem non-aggressive is a good place to go. There are good ones and bad ones. I would even check out Yelp and see if there are some that are recommended. Or just read the comments. Do send a photo of your new do, we would love to see what Santiago can create...Benefit has a fabulous concealer that I use for under eyes ... check them out. It is the best concealer I have used and I tried them all.
Happy Holidays to you and sweet Ringo. hugs, fredie

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon You are amazing! You have been through so much this year and don't let anything get you down - you simply move on and do something even better. Ringo sounds like one of the very best things you've chosen to do this year. Take care of yourself and have a wonderful Christmas (and enjoy every minute with Aliyah - she's the perfect age to see Christmas with awe!)

Congratulations on the weight loss!! You've been through a whole lot this year and managed success! Proud of you!! Way to go on making no excuses!!
Your pup sounds wonderful. You are both fortunate to have found each other!!

Merry Christmas to you and Ringo.

P.S. isn't it amazing how much they can sniff??? This morning Lilo managed to sniff out a whole frozen sandwich! ?????? I had to tell her to drop it!

I am going to have to catch up on your blogs! I've missed a lot!!

Love that you and your pup are doing so great!
And I totally understand the eye bag thing! I have insomnia, so I'll go weeks with very little sleep and my bags will get awful! I got got this amazing stuff in my Ipsy bag, I use it sparingly but it works so well, it's Organic Surge Daily Care Reviving Eye Gel. I've heard some say it doesn't work for them, but it works for me. I think you can find it on Amazon. I also have adult acne, which drives me crazy, taking berry blend Juice Plus helps a lot for that, but I can't take it while I'm on this program, so guess what is coming back? I can't stand it, it makes me so self conscious!

I love hearing that you are doing so well! emoticon
