Twas the day before Christmas...

Saturday, December 24, 2016

... and I'm taking time to drink a whole cup of coffee, catch up on SP while Riley sleeps on my lap, and puppy is..... ack... MIA!! emoticon Whew... here he comes in answer to my call - good boy. He watched Riley and has figured out how to swing the gate open and escape from the kitchen. I have a heavy bookend that I place there to keep the gate shut and apparently I neglected to do that. OK - where was I?? Oh yeah - relaxing and listening to the dishwasher do it's thing.

Have a list (I am definitely a list maker!) of what needs to be done today. Lots of little things - frost cookies, bake another recipe, wrap one more package for Mom to give, practice, shampoo my hair between dog walks so I can walk around with wet hair which takes a couple of hours to dry... hmmmm. I think that's about it.

Will be singing for the 8:00 service with warm up at 7:15. Parking can be a problem with the Children's Service ending at 7 so have to plan extra time and be prepared to walk. Here's hoping there is no freezing drizzle or rain despite the forecast. Our Christmas Eve service is one of my favorite parts of the celebration - candlelight and Christmas carols.

Tomorrow morning I will be playing piano for our Christmas service. I am excited to be playing again - it will be special for me. Here's hoping our regular organist leaves things where I can find them and that I remember all I need to do and when. I have chosen "Mary did you know?" for the anthem but have two different arrangements so I'll have to make the final decision. Both have pesky page turns... ack!

Following church will pack up my sleigh - uh, make that my SUV - with goodies, gifts, dog #1, dog #2, and a dog crate and head for my sister's home. We gather and have a leisurely day opening gifts one at a time and snacking in courses. We don't have any extended family in state so there will only be nine of us but throw in four dogs and an 11mo baby and we'll be thoroughly entertained and busy!

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing on December 25, I wish you a day full of hope and joy and peace. emoticon

Sounds like a wonderful holiday! If I were there, I might volunteer to turn pages ... any other music readers in the congregation?

    Have a Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you also. I love your fur baby pictures. I also Love the song "Mary did you know".
I never tire of hearing it from all groups and singing styles.
I hope you don't get that freezing rain also. They say it's going to be 32 here tomorrow also and we will get 5 inches of snow. I hope no freezing rain under it. I'll drive my truck into work all weekend just to be safe.
I wish you the most Amazing New Year.

Your day sounds a bit like mine - I, too, am a list maker. Our celebration will be today with kids starting to arrive anytime around noon. But dinner will be 4:30 or so. I spent most of yesterday preparing everything, now I just have to do the last little things and put the food together. There will also be 9 of us, possibly 4 dogs depending on how many my daughter brings, but no babies or children of any age. Joining us for the 3rd year in a row is my ex-husband. It feels weirdly and normal all at the same time. He's alone and the kids appreciate that he can be with us for the celebration.

    Have a wonderful Christmas!
