Gratitude 1/6/2017

Friday, January 06, 2017

I am grateful for a good night's sleep. I have a terrible time getting a good night's sleep. I fall asleep okay but I always wake up at least once every night and sometimes I can't fall back to sleep no matter how many tips I try from chamomile tea to melatonin. Nothing works! Well last night I had a great night's sleep and it changes my whole demeanor. I am so grateful when that happens.

I'm laughing at Brooklyn_Born's solution - I find those shows fascinating and would be transfixed, not falling asleep.

I've always had problems falling asleep as well as staying asleep, from the time I was a baby. Still have sleep problems. Exercise helps, especially walking a few miles a day. Yoga before bed helps. Keeping the bedroom dark and quiet helps. A king size bed helps, so that I don't feel when DH gets up.

I had a problem during menopause, when I'd often wake and be up for 2 hours or so. It was exhausting. Finally my hormones settled down and quit doing that.

So enjoy those deep sleep nights!

I know what you mean! I wake up too, but I've finally learned to get back to sleep... usually. :)

I'm glad last night was better for you.

My solution when I experience insomnia is not a common solution, but it works for me.

I have several PBS nature programs recorded. I turn on one of them like "watching geese migrate around the world" and soon I just drift off and the next thing I know, it's morning.
I have "The Secret Life of Deer" (seriously that's a title) and one about whales and a few others.

I don't think it would work with blaring infomercials or news shows that broadcast in the middle of the night. LOL

Sleep is so necessary. And when we don't get it, all sorts of problems pop up. I hope you continue to sleep well.
