So, I have found myself in need of cheering up. I mean, what do you do when you can't go to karate because you have tendinitis and need physical therapy? Karate is great exercise, lots of fun, and a major stress relief. I've found myself doing something I never thought I would. Here's how it happened.
September - I attend my first artEquity facilitation training. I make many new friends, committed to equity within the arts. Most of them are younger than me - maybe even young enough to be my child. Don't believe all the hype about the social media, privileged millenials. There are plenty of them actively concerned and working!
October - Our second facilitation training and I get to know those millenials in another intense week of work! One of those is Courtney. This time around, I notice her fabulous nails. I'm working on being Fabulous over Fifty - believe me, they caught my eye!
November - Courtney invites me to join an online Jamberry Party. Think of it like a Tupperware party for your nails but done through Facebook with lots of games and info. I decide to participate.
December 2nd - I finally get a chance to apply my nail wraps! Spirits Lifted!
I did this while in my hotel room at a conference. It was a very trying day for me and these made me (and everyone else) smile! Here is what they looked like:
Those first nail wraps lasted 9 days! I love playing with color and pattern. They were followed by these:
These lasted until Christmas Day when I decided on these (I felt like I was wearing wrapping paper on my fingernails
and they made me giggle):
New Year's Eve came around and I decided I wanted to celebrate with more nail levity so I did this:
This wrap lasted 10 days and made it through my annual NYC craziness where I attend one conference and three theater festivals - at the same time! I returned home from New York yesterday and decided that I needed a change. They could have lasted longer but it's time to do something else. I haven't decided what that is yet but I will post a pic when I do.
So, what do you do? You get finger bling!
Update: these are the nails that I did on the 11th. The wrap is called Champagne Toast:
