Wishing I could feel results...

Saturday, January 14, 2017

Its so frustrating to workout and not feel any changes. I am still struggling with making it through short, fairly easy workouts. I get completely out of breath doing a low impact Walking workout, which didn't used to be the case....I know in my brain, that results don't magically appear, but feeling so exhausted every workout is just hard on my emotions. I thought about doing a class at my gym, but just knowing I feel like passing out, and I am breathing too hard to drink water, makes doing a group class daunting. I only use the pool at my gym, but at the moment it is under construction, so I was looking into doing a short spinning class as an alternative...I am hoping to be able to do more than a 15-20 minute cardio soon. I'd like to get my endurance up. ...I found some 15 minute cardio/strength circuit videos on Youtube today, and tried one..it took me 25 minutes to get through it(thank god for the pause button), but I made it. I had to modify some exercises, but I am hoping to continue to do those since the amount of time is good, and it is fairly all inclusive with strength and cardio. Maybe eventually I can do all of it without stopping to catch my breath...I guess that could be my new short term goal...

Did you check with your doctor? I have problems running out of breath and having to stop. My legs ache, too. A friend told me she thought I had exercise-induced asthma. With an inhaler, her high-schooler could run in races again without giving out. Sure enough. The doctor ran some tests, and now I have an inhaler. If I know I will be walking hills, I take a breath out of it, and I then can do hills without stopping.

I had a rude awakening as far as my lack of fitness too. Take it easy on yourself and just increase slowly. You can get there if you have faith!
