Half of S. Ontario got hit by a massive ice storm yesterday and is headed
east through Quebec to the Maritimes, causing thousands to be without Hydro Power.
Residents using candles and generators during the power outage were
asked to do so with extreme caution.
Portable generators should only be used outdoors and be carefully
located to ensure that exhaust fumes do not enter the home.
A flood warning also continues to be in effect, and residents are advised
to exercise extreme caution near any waterways.
Homeowners are urged to check catch basins adjacent to their property
to ensure they aren’t blocked.
Luckily for us, we got mostly rain, as the Niagara Escarpment and
Lake Ontario protected us. Not so farther north of us.
Our Waterfront, showing an angry Lake Ontario. We live one block from here.
Our highways under assault from the wet, icy snows.
Snow Plows clearing up eight lanes at a time.
What happens during a white-out... highway backed up for miles.
Glad we didn't have to go to work.
