Praying For My Neighbors
Saturday, February 11, 2017
After a long night at work Thursday night I finally went to sleep about 1:00 a.m. We (my son, DIL and grandson who are staying with me for a while) were all sleeping peacefully when we were suddenly woken by our dogs going crazy, someone banging on my front door and male voices outside. My son went to the door and a man on our porch was yelling that my neighbor's house was on fire. I threw on clothes and ran outside to see her house fully engulfed in flames. I panicked at the thought that she and her two dogs might be in there, but was reassured that the first thing they did was call 911 and check to see if anyone was inside. Thankfully, they were away.
We stood in my front yard in complete disbelief and feeling helpless to this.
I was shocked at how fast the flames continued to grow. We were standing in my yard taking these pictures without our coats on and the heat was incredible. It was a very cold night, but not in my yard. The sounds of glass shattering and things falling inside was so frightening. My son and DIL had to move their cars that were parked on the side of my house much too close to the fire.
Looking from my back door. It made me so sad because her two teacup chihuahuas used to sit on her bed and watch out these two windows for our dogs to go outside so they could bark at them.
We were so thankful when the trucks finally started arriving. I must say that I was impressed with our volunteer fire fighters who worked so quickly to get things under control.
It's so sad to see this home completely destroyed as it has been owned by this family for several generations. They have been great neighbors over the years and I just thank God that nobody was hurt. Prayers for them would be greatly appreciated.
On a happier note, my sweet grandson Archer will be one year old on the 22nd! I can't believe it has been a year since he was born. He is still grandma's boy all the way and is the light of my life.
Playing with me and peeking at me through his play tunnel!
I hope everyone is doing great. Looking forward to spring and the great outdoors!
