Brain Surgery Success (Like the Scarecrow they found one to put in)

Saturday, February 11, 2017

Kidding aside Wednesday's surgery was pretty uneventful and thanks to a few innovations in microsurgery I was able to come home the next day - in hindsight that probably was a day early for St. Thomas (hubby and caregiver) but not nearly soon enough for me. Hospitals are not a place to get better in.

Brain doing well - me could be doing better trying to stay off heavy duty meds (so nice but soooo addicting, even worse than my buddies B&J - especially the Pfish Phood. In other words it hurts constantly but at least I am no longer afraid of the device breaking through the skin. Some days it's the little things - ok, this isn't so little but the worst is over. Moving parts still all move. No drool or facial paralysis - a sometimes complication No memory loss. Speech clear (St. Thomas says maybe that's not so good), Kinda get the idea.

And at least on Day 4 of this adventure no appetite. None. I know I have to eat but truly I have no interest. Please remind me that I said this in 2 weeks ... I intend to ride this wave with super healthy eating and perhaps by the time I want to eat again those foods will be all I want. That would be real positive.

So thanks to all of you for good wishes and prayers. They do work.

Peace
Sunny

Just came across your blog after reading Best of Sparkpeople's little article "You Can't Run Anymore, Now What?"

What a courageous woman you are! Keeping a sense of humor throughout your ordeal is such a strength! I'm so glad that your surgery appears to have gone well, that the waiting is over and you are determined as ever to get on with your life.

    I'll be thinking of you.
