Non scale victories when you are in a challenge??

This week I have noticed lots of articles about breaking free from the scale, focusing on other victories besides the scale etc. Maybe I am hyper sensitive to them since the scale has not been my friend the last three weeks. But how do you focus away from the scale when you are in the middle of a 5% challenge and you have to weigh in each week and hopefully continue to lose weight to gain points for your team?
The last three weeks have been rough. I have had travel, dinners out etc on the weekends and the scale has been up by 3 pounds each Monday. Then I spend all week trying to just get back to what I weighed the past Friday. While I recognize that my eating may not have been the best on the weekends, I don't think I ate three pounds worth of food. And if it was sodium or something else, then why does it take five days for it to come back down. So what to do at this point- give up and stop trying or reassess and move forward.
Well I decided to reassess and move forward. Truth be told even though this is week 6 of the challenge I have not been fully committed to it. I have been doing my weigh ins but my tracking has been off, my workouts have been off, everything has been off. I haven't been active in this process but just getting by. Time to be active again.
So while this may be week 6 of the challenge I feel like this was the first week I was truly in it.
Tracking everything I ate with weighing measuring etc
Working out six times this week, meeting my expected calorie burn
Looking forward to a dinner with friends tonight but bringing pot luck items I know fit in my eating plan
And when it comes to focusing on the good- well I have maintained my 15 pound loss for the last three months, I hit my goal of lifting three times in a week and have weight lifted twice a week for five weeks now, I put on a shirt that used to be tight in the arms and it was loose and I am going to go out and enjoy 78 degrees today in February in Maryland.
