Losin' My Zoo!

Friday, March 03, 2017

I read in a blog entry about a really cool website (Thanks AutieJ) - www.bluebulbproject.com/measur
eofthings

So, I tried this out. It is kinda funny but gives a very good visual of how much you weigh, your goal weight, and how much you have lost. I chose 5 things that were the most visual for me (animals, of course), and have listed the average results so far below.

Starting Weight - 220 lbs =
2 North Pacific Giant Octopi
11 Dachshunds
22 Cats
44 Chihuahuas
440 Hamsters

Weight Lost - 10 lbs =
0 NPG Octopi (haven't lost one of those yet emoticon )
1/2 a Dachshund (not sure how the other half of the dachshund feels about that)
1 Cat
2 Chihuahuas
20 Hamsters

Goal Weight - 120 lbs =
1 NPG Octopus
6 Dachshunds
12 Cats
24 Chihuahuas
240 Hamsters

Left to Release Into the Wild*** - 90 lbs =
1 NPG Octopus
5.5 Dachshunds (hopefully the halves will be reunited)
9 Cats
18 Chihuahuas
180 Hamsters

So, my zoo is being released, one by one. Here is to it getting smaller and smaller by the day until it is the right size zoo for me. And thinking of it in these terms, weight loss doesn't seem quite so hard. Be happy to lose a hamster, and look forward to the beautiful release party for the octopus!

***Never, ever, ever release a pet into the wild, no matter what type of pet it is. It is usually a death sentence. If it is already wild, why not leave it there? It's happy.

North Pacific Giant Octopus - 100 to 110 lbs average

Dachshund - 20 lbs average

Cat - 10 lbs average

Chihuahua - 5 lbs average

Siberian Hamster - 1/2 lb average

emoticon Your comments about the 1/2 doxie was funny... (especially since I have one....a whole one, not a 1/2..LOL)
I see that you gained quiet a bit of weight during a short time, just like I did. I found that it could be from PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) It can cause rapid weight gain, among other symptoms like skin tags, and thinning hair. The thinning hair didn't happen on me until years after the rapid weight gain. Anyway, just thought I would throw that out. Didn't know if you had spoken to your doctor about that.
You are doing great... I love the website you are talking about...really funny.

I have heard of comparing your weight loss to various things. I love the animal connection best!
