I broke the rules

Yesterday was Women's Day.

I worked.
I didn’t wear red. I went to the Vet and bought cat food from (another) working woman. I guess I broke the Women’s Day rules. I simply saw no logical reason how taking the day off could constructively impact anything. I am proud of my job; earned through education, experience and hard work.
I felt no need to sing, “I am Woman, hear me roar”.
We are valued everyday through our actions and treatment of others.
If you took the day off, I hope you put your time to good use and made an actual difference in someone’s life; helped the homeless, fed the poor, visited a lonely senior, thanked a veteran, donated your time and/or money and brought an appreciative smile to any person, man or woman’s face.
