The First 20 Pounds are Gone!

After 3 years of trying to change my habits, I have finally been able to meet my first goal of losing 20 pounds. It has been more than 5 years since I have weighed this much. I’m so proud of myself for finally doing this!
Since changing my habits, I’ve been able to go 3 years with only 1 migraine! Instead of the once or twice a month that I was having for a while. My jeans are baggy instead of skin tight. And I feel great every morning when I wake up.
I exercise regularly. I’ve tried new things like tennis, hiking, yoga, and biking. I’ve given up all soda and coffee and only drink a cup of tea each day. I no longer eat fast food. I eat fruits and veggies every day. I take time to read each day (mental health is important too!). I get 8 hours of sleep every night.
AND I actually love doing all of these things. It used to be such a struggle to say no to Mountain Dew and Taco Bell. Now the idea of either doesn’t even sound appetizing.
Despite all of my progress, I still don’t feel like I thought I would. I thought I would be happier but instead, I’m just so focused on losing my next 10 pounds. I’ve read several SparkPeople articles that say that this happens sometimes.
Oh well, I know that I am healthier for all of it and I’ll just keep reminding myself of how far I have come and how many new things I’ve tried.
