My Mother's Birthday updated.
Monday, April 24, 2017
It's many years later and it's my Mother's birth date again. I thought I'd send this out again since I have some new Spark Friends. I'd like to add that that my Mother was partially paralyzed on one side due to having had polio as a child. This never held her back. During the depression she gave up a college scholarship to hold a secretarial job. She was the only one in her family who had a job during the depression. She supported her 2 sisters, 2 brothers, her mom and her dad. She was never able to go back and finish college. The only thing she ever asked of me was that I finish college. I did. The funny part is below.
April 23rd is my Mother's birthday ??? She passed in 1996.
She always said her birthday was April 23rd because it was Shakespeare's birthday and she loved Shakespeare.
When she died, 1996, her lawyer asked me why half of her documents said her birthday was April 22nd and the other half said her birthday was April 23rd.
I explained - The legal documents said April 22nd because that was her legal birthday. All the other documents (like the Senior Birthday Club and her Library Card) said April 23rd because she always celebrated her birthday on Shakespeare's birthday. The lawyer looked at me as if I was nuts. I just smiled. RIP, Mom, wherever you are, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!
The daisy was her favorite flower because it represented the Girl Scouts.
I send this out every year around my Mother's birthday. She was the best teacher I ever had, an inspiration and guiding light.
