Day 885 - Three years ago

This post showed up on Facebook this morning:
It was a sad day for him at the time. I know he was scared. But I knew that I was alive and that I would get over whatever had happened and be better than ever. I was DETERMINED.
I am in San Diego for a conference, and a group of us walked over to the waterfront to have dinner. There is a flight of steps up into the center of the San Diego conference center, and there are many fitness fanatics who run up and down the steps for extra effort. We went up the six flights - I jogged them - and when I got to the top, I turned around and said, "Not bad for almost 60!" I'm the oldest in the group, and I reached the top first.
I thought about that day three years ago when it wasn't clear if I would even walk again. Then I thought about how sure I was that I was going to make it through the accident and the recovery. I found SparkPeople just six months after the accident, and my life changed. I'm the fittest I've ever been, and it is in part because of all of you who supported and encouraged me.
Life hands us lemons sometimes. What you do with them is what counts.
Make lemonade. Make lemon pie. Make lemon sorbet. Make something delicious.
Make LIFE delicious.
