happy mother's day

When someone tells you Happy Mother's Day--no matter how many children you do or do not have, no matter what gender you identify as--don't answer "I'm not a mother." Just answer "Thank you." Because whoever said it recognized your role as a nurturer in the life of another.
Happy Mother's Day to my mom. She gave birth to me and raised me and shaped me into the woman I am today.
Happy Mother's Day to my dad. He also raised me and nurtured me.
Happy Mother's Day to my aunts, grandmothers, cousins. They have been amazing female role models in my life.
Happy Mother's Day to my older sisters. They nurtured me in my formative years. They were my confidants, counselors, experts, and friends. They still are. And they are amazing mothers and aunts.
Happy Mother's Day to the teachers, pastors, and supervisors who have guided me spiritually, academically, and vocationally through the years.
Happy Mother's Day to my friends. To those who are tirelessly caring for young children and struggle to keep up with their adult friends. To those who have older children and a lot of life experience to share. To those who have no children of their own, but love and nurture the children in their lives.
Happy Mother's Day.
