What to do when the black dogs come around?

In the middle of a major depressive episode right now and boy does it make everything more difficult. I don't even want to get out of bed, much less walk 2 miles or cook a healthy dinner. So I take it easy on myself. I eat a lot of salads, cereals, and sandwiches, all which can still be healthy and protein-packed without major cooking. I turn on my most motivational playlist and dance around the living room with dumbbells, and if the sun comes out, even for a minute, I push myself to go for a 1/4 mile walk. They add up! Coming to this site and reading the inspirational stories also helps. I know this depression won't last forever and I'm determined not to let it completely undo the work I've done, while giving myself permission to take it a little easier on myself for a while.

    You really impress me because it is hard to fight thru depression but you are doing it. Good for you. Don't know if you believe in prayer but I'm praying for you

    I've been there - sounds like you are making some great choices. Sometimes I've said "just do it for 5 minutes or 1 minute" which would end up being 15 min. emoticon emoticon
