Maybe I'm just jealous

The prevailing comment around here is that Tech companies create arrogant employees. My aerospace company is surrounded by Yahoo, Google, Amazon, Go-Daddy, Net App, HP, and a few you probably haven't heard of. It seems like all of these employees have their head buried in their phone even when they are crossing the street with no regard for the line of cars that is backed up waiting for them to cross the street.
Their cafeterias have no cash registers because their meals are free. They also have so many amenities that they don't need to go home. When I walk past these companies on my walk around the industrial park here is what I see:
Adirondack chairs for comfy sitting
Swings to play on
Swing chairs in case the other chairs around are not comfortable enough
Lounge chairs in case you want a nap with a Google bike in the foreground
Huge air conditioned buses with wireless so that you don't have to worry about gas or traffic
And a beautiful fitness center with an Olympic-sized pool
But I'm going to retire soon with a beautiful pension and that seems to go one better than any of those perks. I'm grateful to be employed and to be able to retire in style.
