Yesterday I really blew it but I'm back on track today

Wednesday, July 05, 2017

There is something about summer, long weekends and great food that makes me lose resolve and completely overdo. Our weather has been awesome, I had last Friday, Monday, and Tuesday off from work and of course, we HAD to have the great American Barbeque yesterday to celebrate the fourth. We always have ribs on the fourth. I have an old recipe that has us marinate the ribs in onion and pickling spices and a little water. Simmering them on the stove and then throwing them on the grill with KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce mixed with Karo syrup. Easily a million calories by themselves. Then we paired them with Red Potato Salad and Coleslaw made not with mayo but with way too much sugar, light olive oil, and vinegar. The whole mess being confounded by portions that were too big and ice cream at the fireworks display. Sparkpeople put the total for the day close to 4000 calories but at least I hit my step goal of 12000 and it is only one day.

Fortunately, I don't have to track my weight until Saturday so I have three days to set myself back on the right path. My challenge from Sparkcoach today is to ask myself if I'm really hungry before eating and I feel like fully embracing this challenge to help me get back on track and hopefully my Saturday weigh in will be on track too.

You're a veteran and know one day won't derail you because you got right back on track.
Numerically, an extra 2500 calories doesn't even amount to a 1 pound gain.
    You will be fine.

Oh well, right? The day came, you did what you could, and now it's gone. And you are back to your plan. That's all we can do!

Well, you went over your calories but your meal sure does sound delicious! We had steak on the grill yesterday and I just made some grilled veggies. My DH wasn't happy when he found no baked potato but even he said it would have been too much. So we got by without all that butter and sour cream!
