I just realized, as I was updating my spark page, that I've been a member of Spark for eleven years! I should be lean, trim, and gorgeous by now, but I still weigh almost exactly what I weighed when I started those many years ago. How can that be? I'll tell you how....because I don't stick to anything! I start gung-ho but after a few weeks I start sliding back and pretty soon tracking, counting calories and weighing myself become a burden and not much fun.

I had an eye-opener a few months ago when my diabetes went out of control. That really scared me because I know some of the devastating effects it can cause. I had to make a choice, keep on doing what I've been doing, or change my lifestyle. I went to a four-week class on diabetes and learned so much that changing my eating habits hasn't been that tough, lots easier than I thought it would be. I mainly watch carbs now, but keep my eye on calories as well, and it's paying off. My numbers have improved, I feel better, my mind is clearer and I've lost a little weight.

I'm back at Spark for the support, food tracker, and when I sit down every day to track my food I'm accountable to myself, no one else. Let's see how it goes this time.
