Caribbean Cruise Update

Saturday, July 15, 2017

It's been a while since I wrote here. Been super busy with full time job, part time job, and volunteering to help with a website and church and social functions. Busy, but good.

So, I am now at 31lbs lost. I have my next follow up visit with the doctor on Monday.

As for the cruise--it's BOOKED!!! Myself, my roommate, and a good friend will be sharing cabin 7708--an "aft balcony" cabin on Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas. We leave Feb 10th, 2019. I know it's a long way off, but it allows me to have time to pay it off and to get in shape! We originally booked a different room, but after watching you tube videos of the ship, I asked her to change us to the "obstructed view" cabin because it has a much larger deck. Here's a picture of the "obstructed view" deck.

I've done a number of cruises but not with Royal Caribbean. Where are you going?
I like cruising because they take care of everything for you, getting you from place to place. We do as many shore excursions as we could (which meant we were usually not on the ship at meal times!). The biggest thing I didn't like was putting our luggage in the hallway the night before we come back (so they can take it to where they need to unload it.) That meant we have to carry anything we use that night and the next morning in a tote...and usually meant I had to carry it on the plane. I prefer to check everything so I don't have to carry bags when changing flights.

On one cruise with Carnival Cruises, our package deal paid and tipped the guys that transported us and our bags from the airport to the ship. Our driver pulled over to the side of the road after we got on and got snarly with us, said they tipped him to take us to the ship but did not tip him to take our luggage. Sounded like he didn't plan to take good care of our luggage if we didn't tip him, too.
You have to watch for those extra expenses that you may not have planned for.

Thank you all for your feedback!
Yes, we're going to drive down to Galveston the day before, stay at hotel and board the ship early (I hope). I've never been on a cruise so if you have any advice about Royal Caribbean, please feel free to speak up!
Audreygnsc--Feb isn't too far away if you're going next Feb. I'm going in 2019. Time to hit my goal before then. What cruise are you going on?
