Packing, packing, packing

I love to get dressed up when my DH and I go out and we both love to cruise and especially love the formal nights but packing for these things really gets me down. We are flying on three different airlines. They have different baggage fees. One charges 35 dollars for every bag you stow. Another gives you the first bag free and charges $200 for the 2nd. Carry-on dimensions are different. One airlines has 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches. Another has 7 inches x 15 inches x 21 inches so that means my carry on has to be 7x14x21 to fit all of the planes. I know a lot of people manage to get everything they bring in their carry-on but with two different formal gowns more or less required I don't see how. Going on vacation shouldn't be so stressful!
