New problem I have no idea what to do about it....

Wednesday, August 09, 2017

I got up last night about 3 to pee and walk around a little. The cats where all acting weird and the dog seemed to be barking at the ceiling. I think I have a bat. I just saw something flying thru the living room again so I guess it's still here. I have got to get rid of this thing.

My plan for tonight is to make sure it's not in the bedroom and close the doors with the cats and dog inside. Maybe I'll sleep better. I did stay home today but have some prescriptions to pick up but think I'll leave them until Fri. I finished quilting to of the rows today and will try to finish that tomorrow.

Of course now that I was home all day with my regular food I ate so much better the worst thing I managed to eat was bread. I do love my bread. Hope I can accomplish the rest of that quilt tomorrow.

Have someone look through your home to see if you do and close any holes.

The very first time I went out with DH he told me a story about trying to find a bat in his chimney that ended with him looking down at his chest only to discover the bat had fallen down onto him. How could I resist a man who was willing to describe the panic of finding yourself eye-to-eye with a bat on your chest?!?

    p.s. Everyone survived the adventure!

My husband trapped one that was flying around our family in the early summer. It perched on the valance and in the morning put the kids' butterfly net onto the end of a bamboo pole. He then put it over the bat and lowered it down the window until we could put a plate between the net and the bat. Then I unfastened the net from the pole and he took it outside and put it in the grass. We don't now how it got in and we haven't had another one fortunately. I looked online to figure out how to trap it and the method we used is what I found online. We have tall ceilings so that's why we used a bamboo pole.

I think you should go with USMAWIFE's suggestion and call the police or animal control. Bats eat a lot of mosquitoes and we see them at night flying around. They usually don't cause any problems so I don't think I would go the expense of gassing them to death and then having to go looking for a dead body before you could take your animals back inside. Good Luck! It's scary hearing things go bump in the night!

Bats can have rabies and that would be really bad! Good luck with getting rid of it!

If you think you have a bat in your house, take the pets out and try a pack of bug foggers. You cannot leave pets in or an open fish tank when you use them as they will inhale the poison in the foggers.

that is strange about something flying around. My neighbors have had a bird and a ground squirrel fly through their house but you can see those especially when they bump into things on your walls and tables.

stay safe and if you see it and can not get it out, call your local animal control or police and ask for help
