Return to the bike!
Sunday, August 13, 2017
After a long string of very hot weather, for us, cooler days have inspired me to try to do a 60 mile bike ride at the end of this month. With only a few weeks to get back on the bike and do some real riding it will be a challenge. So yesterday I took off to see how far I could go on a local trail. Not very many hills, which will be my next challenge, but I managed to put in 48 miles. Gads, shoulder pain like none I've had before, burning toes so that I had to stop and take off my shoes, muscles threatening to cramp, but also met new friends on the trail, got a free hamburger from that group (it was a fund raising event), and enjoyed a day out in the fresh air. The smoke from the wildfires in Canada and Washington have been blown away by the marine push and then the rain returned today, making me happy I rode yesterday. We'll see what the future brings. Will put aside my weight lifting for the duration on my preparation.
So, rock on everyone and enjoy the challenges and rewards life brings.
