A much better day with sewing my main activity.

Tuesday, August 15, 2017

I'm pretty sure the bat is gone. No sightings in 2 days and I feel like my house is mine again.

I sewed or slept most of the day. Early this morning as I was taking a drink it went down the wrong tube and for most of the rest of the day my asthma acted up. The whole thing set off a nasty coughing followed by a sore throat and a tough day of breathing. But after a nice Xanax this afternoon and a nap I seemed to calm down and be able to function pretty well again. I hate when things like that happen.

I finished all the applique work on the quilt rows and started squaring them up along with cutting the borders and sashing. So tomorrow I should get most of it put together. I hope. It's always exciting when I get to the point of putting them together. It is not my best work. I really need practice on the applique parts. But I have lots and lots of row kits that will give me lots of practice.

I even made a nice dinner. I made a casserole that I grew up with but did use a couple of more modern ingredients. It is a hamb. dish using cream of mushroom soup and creamed corn. I did use one can of soup but I also used some fresh mushrooms and some greek yogurt. Neither are my favorites but I'm trying to use some fresher things in my cooking. Not too bad but I don't much like the yogurt in it. At least I have some in the freezer and some for lunches for a couple of days.

I hope you will share a picture of your quilt. I haven't had much experience with applique but I do some quilting too.

Applique isn't one of my favorite things to do. I do like it though when I make rustic quilts and can use iron on stitch witch or something like that. Then I do a blanket stitch around the piece to secure it to the quilt top. I like to do that by hand and most of the time I use pearl cotton which makes the piece pop. It sets the piece off so well.

I have so many other projects to finish and planned that I have never done a row quilt. They are pretty though, and some day maybe I will do one... emoticon

    Hope that coughing stays away!

Getting something down the windpipe is like burning your tongue - the aftereffects linger for a LONG time!

My mom had a bat for a few years. A bat guy came so we thought it was gone but it wasn't. Haven't seen it in a few years so must be gone. Bats eat multitudes of insects. Very helpful.,

Sounds like you had a good day with working on the quilts, in between getting a nap in and making a nice dinner for yourself. It doesn't take much some times to get the asthma kicking up, have done that myself on occasion. Hope tomorrow the sore throat is totally gone and no more coughing.

The bat sounds scary! I felt the same way about the bird that flew in. Makes you wary to go to sleep and be comfortable in your home. Good luck on your quilt. I'd love to see when you are done.
