Perimeter Aisles in the Grocery Store
Tuesday, August 22, 2017
A friend on Facebook asked me about shopping just the perimeter aisles in the grocery store. My reply:
I'll have to notice when I'm next in the store when I avoid certain places. LOL I I do know that seeing certain things will trigger. I had decided once I finished all the green chile cheese Bagels I had in the freezer, I wouldn't buy any more until whenever. A couple of weeks later, when I was well on the path (I thought), I was going through my freezer looking for something and I found a forgotten bag of frozen biscuits (how did that happen?). I was shocked at my reaction; it was almost like seeing a drug or a bottle of liquor if I had a substance abuse problem (food is a substance and I have abused it, so the same). I pushed them back into the freezer and said, after I calmed down: No, I'm not going to eat these wholesale to "get rid of them". That's what I've always done: I'll just finish this off and/or I'll just finish that off and then I'll get back on track and 5 lb heavier, I've lost control and say: What's the use? This time, I made a plan to eat the biscuits, but one at a time over a period of time. It doesn't solve anything, but knowing that there IS tomorrow is something that I'm learning to incorporate into my mindset. One day at a time
