Hello beautiful strangers,
It is crazy to think of how much time has flown by, I have moved from Gran Canaria to the UK and am almost to my third trimester and doing really well--even amongst the crazy. Go me!
I still find it hard to believe that I fell pregnant. Doctors told me that it wouldn't happen naturally and it did. We weren't even trying, but I am so grateful to be able to have this life inside me and hope to nurture my body to help it in any way I can.
Being pregnant and moving cross countries is not something I would recommend to anyone. My husband's job is the reason for the move and I am not going to lie, I miss the sun and the mountains and island lifestyle. The UK is a bit wetter than I am used to (although as I type this it is sunny and warm in our conservatory). The stress of finding a home, transferring all of our belongings, visa paperwork, medical paperwork yadda yadda has not been very fun...but maybe it will be worth it once I see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Being pregnant and in a new area has taken a little toll on me. I don't have the support from the friends group I had made back in Spain, but I am actively trying to meet new people here. My husband's family is nearby, so that is an added bonus, but nothing beats some a girl group. Especially when I have a bazillion new questions to ask. I have had to completely rewire my thinking to handle this transition, but I feel I am doing ok.
As for eating healthy, I am doing my best! I have only had cravings for grapefruit and cheerios, so nothing too weird. I can eat chicken again which I was 100% against in my first trimester. It is funny how much can change, but I am adaptable.
I am really toying with the idea of a doula for my birth. Has anyone ever had one? My midwife said it's not necessary, but I think I may like to have one anyway for added support and so my husband isn't feeling all the pressure.
Anyway, I hope you all have lovely days and are feeling great. Thank you for reading my written consciousness.
