So today JIM & I got our RUN WALK RUN shirts in the mail AND broke them in! We are crazy excited to do our 5k in Madison on Thanksgiving day.
I know, life is draining me a bit and you can see that here:
Though meeting up with this guy, melts it (stress) all away.
SO-- I've noticed a few things happening since starting up with the walking and running, running and walking...
ONE, I've found a great online community that goes with the Extra Mile Podcast, they actually have a Facebook closed group, this helps everyone get to know each other better, the whole podcast is about community- it's not everyone's cup of tea- though I think it's pretty great.
MY KNEES DON'T hurt anymore! I get up off the couch without limping from a stiff hip.
these are all great things! NON SCALE Victory things!!! Things better than a scale victory! My scale says I'm still a WAY overweight, though my body has been whispering other things to me...like my jeans fitting better, like my bras are looser and my body feels slimmer along my ribcage/bra strap area.
I use Cardiogram on my Apple Watch/iPhone & guess what! My resting heart rate since starting all of this walking has gone down 15 beats per minute!!!!! Starting out my resting heart rate was typically at 87, and today the average was 72. Though before my workout the average resting for the day was 60. I'm going to count that as a non scale victory. I imagine that both the stress levels are being managed better and that the heart is getting stronger.
Being in such beautiful scenery helps...oh I wonder what is going to happen when my perfect weather is gone....and the wild weather we are known for here in WI shows up....
I can tell you that Jim is having fun with this too, also I got a compliment from our teenager today...the one who gives out zero compliments, he says, "I think you're losing weight mom, because I saw you walking over here and didn't know who you were." Funny how I have not lost weight, and he thinks that--- though I also know that everything feels like it is firming up; so I think I will agree with him, it looks like I've lost pounds, though I have not.
Thing to fix, my overall miles are down since starting the RWR, I need to keep my miles up for at least walking on the days that we do the RWR.
Blessing & Love,
