Never Stop Trying

Maybe, I will fail, but at least I will have tried!



I strongly hope this statement is correct! My day will come! The day I will be running again and enjoying it! Until that day comes, I will not give up trying! I promise.

I have not been able to run since December 2015 - It has been nearly 2 Years. On December 31st. this year, one of my best friends form the US, Elizabeth, will be visiting me in Belgium and she wants to do a 5k race! Back when we first met (10 years ago) she was obese and could barely walk and I was fit and slim and would run a 10km in 55minutes. Today, she lost over 100 pounds and started run/walking and I am unable to run and put on 10 pounds. She told me she would walk/run the 5km in 42 minutes. I decided that I would try to do the 5k with her! This would be my first "race" in 2 years. :-)

We will be slow, we will probably come in last, but I really hope we can do it together.

I need luck and a well balanced plan to be able to do that in December. I want to try. I can not afford to get hurt, so I will swim and bike most of the time, and not run. :-(

Here is the plan I concocted for the next 9 weeks until the race with Elizabeth:

Week 1 goal: walk 5km in 50 minutes - swim 1.5km - bike twice for 40 minutes
Week 2 goal: walk 6km in 60 minutes - swim 1.5km - bike twice for 45 minutes
Week 3 goal: walk/run 5km in 49 minutes - swim 1.5km - bike twice 50 minutes
Week 4 goal: walk/run 5km in 48 minutes - swim 1.5km - bike twice 50 minutes
Week 5 goal: walk/run 5km in 47 minutes - swim 1.5km - bike twice 50 minutes
Week 6 goal: walk/run 5km in 46 minutes - swim 1.5km - bike twice 50 minutes
Week 7 goal: Walk/run 5km in 45 minutes - swim 1.5km - bike twice 50 minutes
Week 8 goal: walk/run 5km in 44 minutes - swim 1.5km - bike twice 50 minutes
Week 9 goal: walk/run 5km in 43 minutes - swim 1.5km - bike twice 50 minutes
