Glad That's Over

Saturday, November 25, 2017

I love Thanksgiving. I love having a holiday dedicated to Thanking God for all He gives us, counting our blessings. I love cooking all the family feast favorites and eating them with our family and friends.

...and I am SO glad that's over. I didn't track my food yesterday, but I think I ate fewer calories than I have in years past. I ate the foods I liked and said "no, thank you" to the foods I wasn't all that interested in. Got in walking before and after lunch. Much better than my usual nap.

I'll probably have a bump of weight this week, but it could be worse. I am working to keep my exercise regimen strong so I can enjoy an occasional favorite holiday treat.

I also said goodbye to Jillian's challenge. I am stubborn, but not self destructive. I was more supple and forceful at a younger age, but it took me a week to recover from aches with Ms. Pretzel. I'm back to Leslie Sansone. Did 3 miles tonight. Yay!

My goal is to make it through the next two months with no weight gain, maybe lose another
five pounds with the last few weeks of the Fall Challenge.

I really love the holidays. Putting up my Christmas tree tomorrow. Baking cookies for church. (I love baking them. Take them to church so other people can eat them.) So far our only plans for Christmas are to spend it quietly at home, remembering our Lord. That sounds so good to me right now!

Maintaining over the holidays sounds like a great plan. I've gained five pounds this round of the 5% challenge so I'm hoping to lose or at least maintain for the rest of the year.

Neat. Thanks for sharing. I tried something new for Thanksgiving this year. Before going, I looked at before and after photos of people who had lost a lot of weight. I didn't want or take seconds on anything. I didn't over eat. I did not feel stuffed. Worked out great. I did track. I stayed within my counts but I didn't make my fiber count for one day--that's okay.

I met someone from South America, and she told me that when they have a holiday it is spent much more on prayerful meditation than on the celebrations we in North America seem to lean toward. I think we could do with more time with God and less with parties.

You are right on track and it's great that you listen to your body as far as your exercise is concerned. I often think that some of the fitness regimens/dvds are more likely designed to literally "bust a gut". I'm almost 60 and have realized that my older body needs a gentler approach to fitness.

That being said, we have some great daily challenges over at the QuickFire Challenge team. Why don't you stop by and give them a try? We'd love to see you!

Thanksgiving is over and now, yes, to concentrate on Christmas. Your goal is like mine in wanting to maintain or maybe lose a little. The 5% challenge will be on my mind and I want to help my team make it up a notch or two! Enjoy your Saturday!

You did VERY well with eating and exercise, Friend-- Thank God we aren't what we used to be!

You have a giving heart.... blessing others always blesses the giver. And God is well pleased.

You've set a realistic goal of NOT gaining weight between now and the New Year, maybe even losing. IT CAN BE DONE! And that is my goal--losing a pound or two. emoticon That would be a good gift to ourselves.
