Our trip to San Francisco on my birthday was great. The weather was amazing! We went to Alioto's for crab and sat outside. We had never heard of wharf style so we both tried it for the preparation for our crab. It was a seafood broth based garlicky, herby delight. We walked farther down the wharf to Ghiradelli. The Ice cream shop was way too crowded so we just bought a 60% cacao candy bar and walked back to the Bart station. Rode it back to our car and headed home. It was an 18,822 step Day.
On Saturday we took my oldest grandson who will turn 10 tomorrow to pick out a book for his birthday. First, we had lunch at BJs which is his favorite restaurant. My favorite independent bookstore Leigh's opened a book/toy store named Bookasaurus next door. They put their whole children's book collection there and had primarily educational toys for sale there. My grandson loves to read and he has been reading chapter books for two years now. He loves to re-read books and his parents and we are trying to get him to branch out more so the only criteria was to buy any book that he hasn't read before. He was anxious to get the sequel to The Indian in the Cupboard but unfortunately, they were out of it. Luckily I now know what to get him for Hanukkah. So he got the latest book in The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and since it didn't cost much we also got him a set of Legos that he wanted.
We dropped him off back at his house, then headed to the Sharks games. They beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-0 so it was a terrific weekend. Sunday it rained relentlessly so we stayed around our house and relaxed. And had Thanksgiving dinner leftovers for supper. It was a truly super holiday, birthday weekend!
