Christmas time around here has been fun and exciting. We have made gingerbread houses, wrapped a lot of presents, gone to Christmas concerts and everyone is tired. Today is the last day of school until January 8th. WHEW!!
Last night we got our first snowfall that stuck to the ground, so all the kids were outside celebrating. Now there was less than an inch of snow, so they piled it up and then made snowballs. Lots of laughter and noise.
Ringo was funny. He stepped on it, lifted his paws, licked them and then stepped again. Guess Arizona dogs haven't seen much snow. He has lost weight! I need to adjust his collar because I can get my entire hand under it. There is a spring in his step and he seems pretty happy.
This Grandma gig isn't so bad- LOL. I get to pick and choose what I want to do, except for the job of delivering and picking up kids to and from school.
There have been some traumas here the past week. My granddaughter was assaulted at the high school. The matter has been taken care of, charges have been pressed and it was amazing to see her act so grown up during the process. She is very shy and I was surprised that she stood up for herself. But after the fact, she is a bit withdrawn and doesn't want to talk about it at the moment. Hopefully she will open up a bit later. Her Mama is surprising her with a ticket to Utah to visit her best friend. I think that will help a lot. She doesn't make friends easily so it was traumatic for her when they moved earlier this year.
Elfie Bob is still up to his shenanigans. He is a little stinker! He made a mess in the kitchen trying to make Christmas cookies. He got carried away with the flour.
I have someone coming to the house in January to give me a quote for a stair lift for the basement. I have seen units that are less than $3,000 installed. I don't know if Medicare will cover the cost, but I have a doctors prescription for one. Will keep you posted on that little project.
PT is going great. Today we started working with stairs- ouch! Found some more muscles I didn't know I had!!
I subscribed to a Parent's magazine - $6 through Amazon for the year- what a bargain. I know how to be a parent, or at least I thought I did. The times they have changed!
Long division is still long division, but the methodology seems more complex. The kids are processing information at a much younger age. My 5th grader is doing Algebra! I spent a lot of time this week with the youngest one trying to teach him the concept of telling time on an analog clock. He may be right, there won't be any in his world- but for now he has to learn it!
In the meantime, I am dreaming of the Vagabond life. I want to live in an RV and travel at will. I can't do that now, because I want to be here for the kids, But I see it on the horizon in 2 or 3 years when they reach middle school. Big sis will be driving by then. I can still spend the majority of the time here, but take weekends and do some traveling. Guess I am suffering from what is referred to as " Hitch Itch".
I want to be healthy to do this so will continue my Sparkly journey. Stay between the lines and on my food plan. Get enough exercise and PT to be strong. Keep my sense of humor and can do attitude.
I hope everyone enjoys the Holidays however you spend them. Peace and love to all.
