First Fitness of 2018!

On this, only the third day of 2018 I already have a good feeling about my fitness!

Last night was my first Crossfit Class of 2018. First class - first PR(personal record) already! Actually my first 2 PR's! (Not that I'm tracking PR's this year but still!) It was a good night for PR's though as we were specifically attempting to get PR's for three different movements. While I didn't quite even reach my existing PR for my deadlift (210), I did PR my strict press and my back squat! I increased my strict press by 5 lbs and my back squat by 10!

And continuing my fitness journey of 2018 I woke this morning (without hitting the snooze button again!) and did 30 minutes of Power Yoga. It was a wonderful start to the day. I'm hoping to work Yoga back in to my routine so that I can advance in my practices and bring and extra element of flexibility, strength, mobility and focus to my Crossfit training. They always say the best athletes of any discipline cross-train! For those of you looking for a good beginner Yoga DVD I enjoy Baron Baptiste Journey Into Power Level 1 Beginner.



Last night before bed I read for 40 minutes. My first book this year is a book I started on vacation and haven't picked up since. It wasn't because it isn't good, I just haven't made it a priority. The book is the Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker. It was suggested by my close friend Nicole.

I plan to read again tonight when Amelia is reading for school. She has to read 20 minutes each day and write about what she read. When she is with us, I now plan to read along with her. My plan is to read 3 times a week to reach my goal of reading 1 book per month.
