In order to make the most of 2018 and ensure I do everything I can to reach my goals, I want to try to make at least a weekly blog with a recap from the previous week. I think this will keep me focused and hopefully make it easier to keep these goals in the forefront of my mind.
My 2018 goals!
-Currently postponed until I am under 200 lbs. See the previous post for full explanation.
Lose 100 lbs!
-I am still hovering back and forth between 252-255 lbs. Not making much progress on this goal. I haven't been eating as well as I know I should but I have a plan! I'm going to Sams tomorrow to buy chicken breast and some veggies to eat the rest of the week.
-I'm 56 lbs away!
Hike a new trail once a month
-I have not been out to do any hiking yet this year. It has been super cold and rainy the past few weeks and I've been out of town about half this month so I haven't made time to hit the trails yet. Hopefully it will be nice this weekend and I'll be able to get a hike in.
Get into a size 12 jeans in Levi's
-I currently wear a size 20 in Levi's. I bought a brand new pair of size 18s made by Jones New York at Goodwill the weekend before last so that made me really happy! I need to go try on some Levi's one of these days to see if I'm actually in a size 18 in their brand yet.
Make a new friend
-I have looked into several MeetUp events but I haven't gone to anything yet. Like I said earlier I've been out of town for half the month so it's made it hard to do much in town.
Try a new sport
-I still think I'm going to try ice skating again. I've done it before so it's not really "new" to me but I haven't tried ice skated in about 17 years.
Go to a minor league baseball game
-Won't have an update on this until baseball season starts up again haha
-Won't be putting any money into savings until I've paid my credit card off.
Pay off my credit card
-I have paid my card down to about $750. I should be finished paying it off by April.
Buy new running shoes
-I'm not going to buy new shoes until I start running again. Will update on this later.
Brush up on my Spanish with Rosetta Stone & speaking to people fluent in the language.
-I have been using the Duolingo app and I now have a 20-day streak going now. Hopefully, I can get a whole year long streak! I've logged into MyFitnessPal for over a year now so I know I can do the same with Duolingo. I can't wait to see how much better my Spanish is after a year of Duolingo. The app says I am currently 54% fluent in Spanish. Can't wait to see how fluent I am at the end of the year!
Read (or listen to) one non-fiction book every month.
-I've finished several non-fiction books this month! I read Smoke Gets in Your Eyes: And Other Lessons from the Crematory, American Wolf: A True Story of Survival and Obsession in the West, Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis & The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women. I'm really happy with how many books I was able to read this month. I'm currently working on When Breath Becomes Air and The Omnivore's Dilemma.
Explore my new town by visiting local art museums and tourist attractions.
-I have found several local art museums that I have decided I'd like to go to but I haven't been to any of them yet.
Write a new blog weekly
-I'm going to have to change this to monthly. I just don't think it's realistic for me to write a blog once a week right now.
Overall I am pretty happy with how 2018 is going for me so far. I definitely have some areas for improvement. I need to get my eating habits under control so my weight loss will speed back up again and I really need to get outside and hike soon. But I am doing really well with reading my non-fiction books and keeping up with Duolingo!
